Mona's new thing to do...

No 1: Clear the cupboard of all unnecessary items.

No 2: Start climbing into the cupboard.

No 3: With a little effort, you get into the cupboard.
No 4: Find a sitting position in the cupboard and say "ADI"
('Peak-a-Boo' in english or 'Coucou' in french).

No 5: Start getting out from the cupboard.

My baby is sick

Mona is not well...

We went to the doctor this morning... nothing to worry about, she just caught a very bad cold.
She is sneezing a lot... and her nose is very very runny!!
She isn't eating much because of her sore throat, but she is still very active, playful and social during the day!!
In the evening she got a bit cranky and she started to look miserable. My poor baby!!
She needed lots of cuddles, kisses and TLC !!
She is in bed right now, so please whisper a little healing prayer for her.
Thanks.

Negin's Birthday

While we were getting dressed and ready to go to the birthday party, I told little Mona that we were going to see Negin today, and she look at me with a big smile and said "Eggin" lol... that was so irresistible, that i had to kiss her!! lol
Mona was wearing her new purple dress (she got that dress for her 1st birthday) even though its still a big large for her, she looked so cute in it.
She also insisted to bring her handbag. In it she had her dummy, her hairbrush and a little Kitty fake plastic lipstick! Yep! Already!!
She loves to watch me put my make up on and she would take my hairbrush from the cupboard and brush her hair and she would copy me doing my makeup!! lol...
She also loves it when i put perfume on her!! Each time i am putting perfume on, she is eagerly waiting for her turn!! And she just beams with joy when i finally put it on her!

So back to the birthday... It was really nice and casual and the kids of course had a blast!
It was also my mother's in law birthday today, even though they decided not to celebrate hers, everyone brought her gifts and she had a mini-cake to blow a candle off.
Negin was of course the Princess of the night and happy and joyful of all the nice gifts she received. Little Mona watched her opened all the gifts and from time to time when everyone else was clapping she would get all excited and clap along too. I was really impressed by her. The opening of gifts took ages (because of both birthdays) and all the time she just look and clap along!
We had such a lovely time this evening and we came back home so very tired, and little Mona went straight to bed without any fuss...

She is learning...

This morning, little Mona was playing with her phone.
She had it up to next to her ear and was pressing the buttons on it and repeating what it said. And she kept up pressing the red circle button and all she was saying was "Circle"!!!
She said it right! with the right pronunciation and all... i was so happy! So all morning i was showing her all sorts of different circles around the house and she would repeat the word "Circle" each time! We had a blast!! And finally all those expensive educational toys are starting to play their roles!!
This afternoon, i gave her a cheese cracker, she took it, when to sit on her couch, look at me while still holding her cracker and said "Merci" with the sweetest voice ever!!! (Merci means thank you in French & Persian).
I was so proud of my little girl.
I usually say "merci" to her, each time I hand her something, but this time i didn't... and she said it herself!!
Ain't progress something great!!

Got to go get ready now, we are going to Negin's 7th birthday party tonight (Mona absolutely loves Negin... she follows her around like a shadow!!). It should be fun tonight.
Negin is my husband's cousin!
Ciao Bella...

Friday Night Dinner & Tantrums!

It was 'Friday Night Dinner' at grandma's place tonight.
We had a lovely time. This week was my brother in law's birthday and tomorrow is my mother in law's birthday, so on the way there, we decided to get a cake for them.
The kids had so much fun as usual, playing around, making a mess, dancing, singing, kissing & hugging... and also throwing some "Little Moments" (that's the name i gave to tantrums!)

They are getting into that stage right now and they are both testing us as parents.
Mona tends to throw herself on the floor while crying when she can't get what she wants!!! Yep!! It's funny though, because she would start crying and slowly slowly throw herself on the floor... she knows she will hurt herself if she does it quickly!! lol...

In the book i am reading right now, it recommends to ignore the tantrums and distract the child from the situation. I've been trying this out and it does work pretty well... except for the fact that Mona copies a lot of her cousin (Ajay)'s actions.

Today Ajay was climbing on the coffee table which has a glass top, and he was making a game out of it and each time her mum would make him come down, he would laugh and climb back up... it went on like that most of the evening and all this time, little Mona was quietly observing his actions and reactions! So after a while of course, Mona gave it a go... but as i also was observing her and even before she attempted to climb, i quickly grab her and told her that we don't climb on tables and gave her another toy to play with. And it seemed to work at the time. Now we have to see if she will give it another try at home or anywhere else... lol.

Shoes are made for walking...

It's been a month now since Mona started walking and believe me she is fully utilizing her new found skills and causing mayhem and destruction along the way, but it's all good.
She looks so funny when she walks and when she gets really excited she walks so fast that it looks as if she is running!
So last Saturday, she got her first pair of "real" shoes at 'Betts Kids', which was a fun experience! She was such as good girl when the lady from the shop was measuring her foot and putting shoes on her foot for her to try on. When we put her down on the floor and ask her to walk, to see if the shoes fit her properly, she started walking so fast towards the door and wanted to keep walking... lol.. When we removed the shoes, she started crying, so we gave it back to her and she just wouldn't let go of it.

What makes ME a Mother?

Yesterday being Mother's Day, I couldn't help but wonder if I was a good mother?!?!
What makes a good mother? What is that one thing, that changes a woman into a mother?
What makes ME a mother???
I kept pondering those questions in my head over and over all day long....
Is it the stretch marks on my belly that gives the evidence that once a baby snuggled inside of me? Is it the constant worry over your child's health and development? The longing to ensure the complete safety, happiness and most important of all, spiritual development of that little one I love so much?? Is that it, the worry???
Or is it the LOVE, the complete adoration for this little creature of God? A love so strong and pure that I've never knew could exist before her??
I still don't know... the answer is like a blurry image... i can see the colours and shapes of it, but not the image as a whole....

I never knew i wanted to become a mother until i became a mother!
After that moment of giving birth, I knew that being a mother was one of the most wonderful, if not the greatest gift, God could have blessed me with!

One thing i know, is that having a child forever changed me!
I know I am more patient, more tolerant, more reasonable, more grateful, more happy, more proud. I have more empathy and more love inside of me! Does being a mother makes you change for the better? What changed me???

I can still remember that early morning in March last year... this tiny warm little baby snuggled on my chest, her little pinkish hand wrapped around my finger, and when her big eyes met mines, i felt like a wave overcame me! A feeling beyond description! I knew immediately that I would do anything for this little helpless creature and that she would have my unconditional love forever more!
Perhaps this is what makes me a mother....
The knowing from the first look that love is the uniting bond between us in this world and all the other worlds to come... A love that requires nothing in return! A most pure, deep and profound form of love! The kind that makes us weak and strong at the same time, the kind that brings you joy and causes you anguish.... the kind of love that you simply cannot explain in words....

My responsibility as mother is even greater than before.
I have the important role and duty to educate my child, inculcate her with values that must become the foundations on which she builds her future life...
Her happiness and well-being depends on me!!!

'Abdu'l-Bahá says: "Therefore is it incumbent upon the mothers to rear their little ones even as a gardener tendeth his young plants. Let them strive by day and by night to establish within their children faith and certitude, the fear of God, the love of the Beloved of the worlds, and all good qualities and traits."

The responsibilities are huge!! And i am only at the beginning of it all... there are so many years to go and challenges to face, and joy and love to share...

I pray that God will help and guide me along this path of what is motherhood and make me become a mother to His eyes... After all that's all that will ever matter!

Happy Mother's Day to Me!

Today is Mother's Day here in Australia and it's actually my second celebration of this day as a mother myself.

I was waken up by my precious daughter and her darling father with breakfast in bed!
In the menu was, a big mug of black coffee (my all time favourite drink), biscotti (small biscottes - my all time favourite food for breakfast) with cheese & butter, and to top it all a piece of delicious chocolate cream cake!
Yummy!
Then i got my presents: A full set of make-up (eye shadow - mascara - eye liner - lipstick, lip gloss, a perfume and a purse perfume), with a cute little flip flop pendant with it's transparent necklace, and a Gift Card in one of my favourite shops: Myers!
All was cool and relax and i was treated like a queen.
My husband took care of Mona and i didn't have to do almost anything.
Even Mona was cuddlier than usual and would randomly come to me and give me kisses & hugs!! :)
In the afternoon, we went for a quick visit to hubby's mom. She was at her mother's house, so on the way we bought a chocolate box for the grandmas and we gave my mother in law her gift.
After that we went out for dinner. We had planned to go out for dinner at the Indian restaurant, but Mona was already tired and a bit sleepy, so we order take away from the seafood shop and went home and had a lovely dinner.
Needless to say when we got home, Mona was no longer sleepy & tired and it took me a little while to get her down to sleep.

So now that the day is almost over, I'm going to relax and sit down with my sweetheart and spend some one on one time with him.
Ooh and i still have to eat my chocolate cake (i couldn't eat all of it in the morning... was too much...)

Here is a pic of my gifts and the cards i made for my mummy!!

Happy Mother's Day Maman Chérie!
Miss you loads and love you tons!!

Visiting Mamani & Hamid

Yesterday was the wedding anniversary of my mother in law & her husband, so we decided to go visit them for a while.
They both send flowers to each other's work of place on the day of their anniversary, without knowing that the other had done the same. It was so cute and the flowers were really beautiful.
Here are some pics of our evening with them.

In Mona's words

Mona has been talking a lot in since she turned 13 months old.
Today alone she said 3 new words.
Here is a list of what she can say well and others that she can imitate the sounds of:
  • Daddy
  • Papa
  • Papi
  • Baba
  • Mummy
  • Mama
  • Mum
  • Nappy
  • Pipi
  • Merci
  • Miam Miam (food)
  • Bahbah (eat in persian)
  • Yummy (food)
  • Bye Bye
  • Hi
  • Allo
  • Adi (Peak-A-Boo in persian)
  • Abha (for Allah'u'Abha)
  • Up Up (to get up or to be picked up)
  • Hamid or Amid (DH's stepdad)
  • Ajay or ezay (Mona's cousin)
  • Mona (sounds more like 'mouma')
  • Baby
  • Tutu (dummy in french baby language)
  • Dodo (sleep in french baby language)
  • Happy or Abby
  • 'Abdu'l-Baha or AhAhAbha
  • "1,2,3!" sounds more like "Wone, Oooo, Freeee" with a "yay" at the end!
  • 'Keen' for the word 'clean'
  • 'Ini' for the word 'Fini' (finished in french)
  • 'Appe' for the word "Frappe" (clap in french, she says it when we sing a song "Frappe Frappe petite mains" - Clap clap little hands...)
  • 'Bravo' for Bravo lol or well done!

And all sorts of different sounds in baby language for different things... the hard part is guessing what she is trying to say!! And the funniest one is when she 'coughs' (a very fake cough) for whenever she wants a drink! lol

She understands and follow very well short commands like: Go get tutu (dummy) - Go get book! - Where is baby (dolly), she will go find her dolly and bring it to us! etc...

It's so amazing to see how fast she is learning each day and scary to see how easy and quickly she imitates our sounds!! We have to watch what we say in front of her now and make sure we are giving her the right example...

Jump, jump...

Mona was playing on her couch for a good 45mins. She would sit, then say the word "Jump" (well in her own way of course) and she would jump up from her couch and fall back on it in a sitting position. Then she would laugh and start all over again!
When i recorded her doing it, it was at the end and she had lost a bit of energy!

Saturday Night Adventures

Since Friday I've been in terrible pain! Pain on my right side, particularly at the neck and shoulder blade! I was literally unable to move on Friday! Took some pills and stayed in bed most of the day, but nothing did seem to work.
On Saturday the pain was less intense but however i soon realised that i had to forget about it.
As it turned out, some old friends of my DH's relatives were in Adelaide for a visit. They knew each other from India when they were all pioneers there. So this lovely couple were here for a visit and i have no idea how it came about, but everyone decided that they were all going to meet them at our house over dinner this Saturday!
I got the news of that around 5pm on Saturday, I was freaking out!! "Guests are coming over for dinner!!" I yelled out to DH!! lol
The fridge was empty, the house resemble like a battle field between legos, dolls and plush toys!! There were food stains on the couches and carpet!! What a horror!!
I hate receiving people on short notice, specially people that are not so close to me! And specially when my house is a mess!
Anyway, DH did ALL of the cleaning which was really a big task: Putting all the toys away (and there were lots of them), vacuuming the whole house, then mopping all the floors (in every room), then he started to rub off the food stains on the carpet and couches! And the house was so clean!! Shinning and sparkling!!
While he was cleaning, i was cooking the dinner (lots of veggies had to steamed, because the guests of honor only eat steam veggies due to health issues), I also made salad and ordered some pizza and chicken for the other guests, we had over 20 adults and 4 children!
At 6.30, just as we were finishing up the cooking and cleaning, the first group of relatives were knocking at the door (They were early!!). I quickly grabbed DD and took her to the shower. DH quickly got ready and went to let them in. Then he took DD and got her dress so that i could take my shower and get ready.
Slowly all the guests arrived and we had dinner, then tea and desserts.
There was lots of cluster of people sitting around the living and dinning room, chatting and having great laughs.
One of DH's aunty really helped out with the washing up of dishes and she even made the tea for everyone!
DH was proudly making his famous and good tasting coffees and cappuchinos from the new coffee machine that he just bought a couple of weeks ago! And everyone did enjoyed them! They were really good! With the cream & chocolate on top and all!! Yummy!
The evening went on great and i almost forgot that i was in pain, until i looked down at the floor! Black shoe marks everywhere, from the hallway to the toilets! Toys scattered all around the place, DD's room was a mess, could barely make my way through it!!
When the last guests left around midnight, we were all tired but so happy to having them over.
Can't wait to do it all over again!! lol...

Before you ask, DH means Dear Husband and DD means Dear Daughter!

You know you're addicted to Photoshop when...

1.You try using Ctrl+ to zoom in when using other programs.
2.You yell out the name of fonts when you see them in magazine ads or posters.
3.When asked what the primary colors are you answer “RGB”.
4.You ponder the meaning of life without layers.
5.You can’t help but comment on the poor use of tacky effects on professional posters.
6.You’ve caught yourself reaching for the Ctrl-Z to undo a mistake…in real life.
7.You look in the mirror and realize you would look much better if you could just tweak the levels and apply a slight gaussian blur.
8.You laughed at these jokes because you’ve actually done some of these things.

We can all seek treatment together! LOL

Little Mona on Baha'i Views...again

When Mona was born, my dad set up a blog just for her.
He put all the congratulations messages he received for her arrival into this world on that blog, so that i could read them (we live in different countries).
And one poem that a friend of ours send was posted on Baha'i Views with a cute baby pic of her.
Today i went back to that post and read the comments left by people and realized I never left a comment there myself.
So that was just what i did.
And just now, i saw that the author of Baha'i Views has updated his blog with a recent picture of Mona! So cute!!
So now that make two posts on Mona by someone else who is not related to us in anyway!! lol

Check the post on Mona here.

Happy Ridvan!

It's the last day of the Ridvan Celebration!

Ridvan is a twelve-day festival in the Baha'i Faith, commemorating the commencement of
Bahá'u'lláh's prophethood. It begins at sunset on April 20th and continues until sunset, May 2nd. On the first (April 21st), ninth (April 29th) and twelfth days of Riḍván (May 2nd), work and schooling is suspended.

"Riḍván" means "Paradise", and is named for the Garden of Ridvan, outside Baghdad where Bahá'u'lláh stayed for twelve days after the Ottoman Empire exiled him from Baghdad and before commencing his journey to Constantinople.

Ridvan is the most holy Bahá'í festival, and is also referred to as the "Most Great Festival" and the "King of Festivals".

So from our family to yours,

"HAPPY RIDVAN"
