Mona's kidneys are growing normally

Mona had an appointment for an ultra-sound today, followed by another appointment with her pediatrician (the specialist in Urinary Track infection one).

It was a follow-up ultra-sound and appointment to check if everything is fine with her kidneys and her urine reflux.

The doctor said that her kidneys are growing normally and that everything look fine, which is really good news. And we are so happy that Mona didn't had any other urinary tract infection since her first one six months ago.

The doctor booked another appointment in 12 months time for another ultra-sound and visit to her office, and we will have another one two years after that, and hopefully when Mona turns 5, she should have outgrown the urine reflux by herself.

So yeah, that is very good news...

Now on to toilet training her.... (wish me luck, patience, and lots more of patience!!! lol).

Morning scene with Mona

This is what happened this morning:

Me, still sleeping in bed.
Mona, totally awake, and jumping on me saying: "Mummy wake up, wake up mummy" over and over again until I got up.
When i finally opened my eyes, she had a huge smile on her face and said "Yay mummy wake up, yay, Abha Mummy, let's go!"
Me, still not fully awaken yet said: "Allah'u'Abha Mona, give mummy a hug please?" which she quickly did and then i said: "Ok let's go" and Mona replied: "Yay, let's go!" so happily!!
Mona jumped off the bed in a flash, took her empty bottle of milk on the bedside table, and said "I take this too" while taking her bottle of water and walked to the bedroom door and waited for me to get up and said "Mummy hurry up pleaze!!"
I also took by bottle of water and my mobile phone and we headed to the kitchen, Mona leading the way.
In the kitchen, Mona dropped her bottle of milk in the sink and put the bottle of water on the kitchen bench. Then I asked Mona if she wanted some milk, Mona said 'No' in a very serious tone and headed to the pantry and said "in there mummy", i said 'what's in there' and opened the door of the pantry, I reached out to the cereal box and showed it to her and said: "You want this", Mona replied: "No mummy, put it back, put it back". I said ok and asked her what she wanted. Mona pointed to the nutella jar and said: "I want this butter with bread"!!
By this point I was totally wowed by how much clearly she communicated with me!!
So i got the jar of nutella and was taking out her small plate and knife from the cupboard, when Mona said: "Mummy forget bread, bread please" and was trying to open the fridge door.
I took out the bread, and started to make coffee for myself. Mona said: "Mona's coffee too?" lol
I said no, coffee is for mummy only, does Mona want milk? And again Mona said 'No' in a very serious tone! (Everyday she sees me making my cups of coffee and each time she sees me, she would ask for coffee too and each time I will tell her that coffee is for mummy only and not for little girls like Mona, but i guess she keeps trying to ask in hope that one day she might get some!! lol)
Then we headed to the dinning table and she started having her breakfast!!

Mona has been talking a lot lately, making little sentences that are fully comprehensible. It started about a month ago and now her sentences are getting longer with more words and becoming more complete. And everyday she is using more new words and becoming more expressive.

Last time we were having eggs for breakfast, and I had cut up her eggs into small pieces, and Mona took up one piece of egg in her hands and showed it to me and said: "Mummy look, it's a triangle eggs" I was shocked, the egg was actually in triangular shape. Before that, she only knew the shape of circle, she had never been able to associate the other shapes with their correct forms. So i was really proud of her achievement. And the way she says the word "Giraffe" is too cute, just as cute as when she sings "Frere Jacques"!!!

I am so proud of my little girl, she is growing up so fast....

Oh and while I was typing this post up, Mona was by my side, singing "Blessed is the spot"!!

Hosting the first Baha'i Feast of the year

"Happy the one who entereth upon the first day of the month of Baha, the day which God hath consecrated to this Great Name. And blessed be he who evidenceth on this day the bounties that God hath bestowed upon him; he, verily, is of those who show forth thanks to God through actions betokening the Lord's munificence which hath encompassed all the worlds. Say: This day, verily, is the crown of all the months and the source thereof, the day on which the breath of life is wafted over all created things. Great is the blessedness of him who greeteth it with radiance and joy. We testify that he is, in truth, among those who are blissful."

Baha'u'llah

We were the host of the first Baha'i 19 day Feast of the year in our new Baha'i Community. The first Baha'i month is 'Baha' which means 'Splendor'. The Baha'i year consists of 19 months and each month we celebrate we a feast.

It has been many years now that my family (my parents) in Mauritius has been hosting the first Baha'i 19 day feast of the year, that it has become almost like a tradition in my family. And last month when we attended our first feast in our new community the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Norwood-Paynam-St Peters asked if anyone could host the first feast of the year, we gladly jumped to the occasion and offered ourselves as the host of the 1st feas of the year.

I prepared the devotional part of the feast and hubby was in charge of the refreshments and food for the social part of the feast. The Local Spiritual Assembly is the one who is always in charge of the administrative part of the feast.

So our first feast was very nice. There were no decorations at the previous feast, so I tought i would set a main table as a focus point for the devotional part. I decorated the main table with candles and flowers petals and put a picture framed of 'Abdu'l-Baha and Shoghi Effendi in the center of the table. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the Baha'i prayers and Holy Writings and the music in the devotional part of the feast. We started with a Hidden Words from Baha'u'llah set to music and chanted in both english and french (as there are a few french speaking people in the community), and then 3 Baha'i Prayers and 2 Baha'i Holy Writings. And as a closing prayer after the administrative part, i chose a Baha'i Writing from 'Abdu'l-Baha on Naw-Ruz and ended with a new version of an all time favourite Baha'i Song "Look at me, Follow Me, Be as I Am". The chairperson of the LSA thank me for the program well-prepared and said that the feast hastnt been so well prepared for many years. A few other people told me the same thing and thanked me for the beautiful devotional program. I was so happy that my efforts have helped to touch the hearts and souls of our new Baha'i family.

And everyone loved, i mean really loved the food hubby prepared.
Hubby spent two hours cooking 'samousas' and spring springrolls and they were a really big hit at the feast. We also had some fresh seasonal fruits, and other snacks and sweets, with juices, soft drinks and tea and coffee.
Mostly everyone was suprised to learn that it was hubby and not me who prepared the food. They all thought i spent hours cooking, but i told them the truth, they were so suprised and couldnt that it was hubby who did all that, they of course all congratulated him for his good cooking and talents they didnt know he had.... lol... I must admit, hubby is a very very good cook and I am so lucky to have him at home just for me and Mona to enjoy!!

Of course Mona was the center of the attention, everyone kissing and hugging her and telling us how cute and beautiful she is.... Mona was quite a bit excited at the feast herself, running around and not being so much quiet during the devotional part that hubby had to take her outside for a few minutes.

We have notice how much she is having some troubles staying quiet during the devotional parts at Baha'i gatherings, so we have decided to work on that and start particinng sitting quietly at home and have more family devotions together, so that she can learn how to listen to other saying prayers.

We are also thinking to offer our house and ourselves as host for bi-weekly devotional meetings and I was thinking to start tutoring Ruhi study circles again here in our new community.

I didnt have much time to take some pictures because we were so busy hosting the feast, but i remembered to take some pictures at the end, just before packing everything up. Unfortunately, we had turned off the candles and the main table was disturd with papers and other things on it, but you can get the idea of what it looked it with candle lights etc on it...

So here are some of the pictures of our first feast of the year.

Big Naw-Ruz Party

So Friday (21 march) was Naw-Ruz, and there were so many parties and things going on.

We decided to go to the big Naw-Ruz dinner and dance party organise by the Baha'i Community of West Torrens (our previous community).

The party was in a bill hall in the city, very close to our house. Lots of people came to the party, about 150 if not more (i didn't count), and half of that were community of interest and friends of Baha'is.

We had a brief talk about Naw-Ruz, followed by two prayers and some songs and music. Then dinner was served followed by cake and tea and coffee. Then music and dancing. It was lots of fun, and Mona really kept us very busy, she was running all around the big hall, on the stage, and in every corners, having fun playing with the other older kids and dancing. She was so busy playing and enjoying herself that she was not interested in having dinner, but she showed lots of interest for the cake!! During the first part of the program, she was singing along while the singers were singing and chanting prayers and playing music etc... and she was saying "yay, bravo" very loudly, even before they finished their singing... it was quite funny and everyone was laughing but not so much for us, as we were really trying very hard to keep her quiet.

It is getting harder and harder to keep her quiet during serious programs such as devotional and speeches in any Baha'i gatherings....

Anyway... here are some pictures of the party...

Mona's 2nd Birthday Party

Ooh lala, the birthday party for Mona's 2nd birthday went great!!

You should all have seen Mona's face!! She was just beaming with joy all day and evening!! Well, she had been waiting for more than 2 weeks for her special day and had been practising to blow the candles and singing 'Happy Birthday to Mona' constantly!!

So in the morning, Mona woke me up and was pulling me out of bed, requesting me to give her some milk. So we got out of bed, walked into the hallway, and there she say all the balloons that daddy had put up the previous night while she was sleeping. Her face was 'a must see'. She was shocked a little bit and was so happy and excited at the same time. She didn't know what to do for a moment. She looked at me as if to ask permission first and when i smiled back at her she ran to the other end of the house and started to play with the balloons that were on the floor. She completely forgot that she wanted to drink some milk!!!

All day she was very kind and very helpful in cleaning the house. She was so impatient also to start her birthday party. She constantly said the names of all the guests she knew were going to come (almost everyone!!). Then it was time to get ready. I decided to straightened her hair for this special occasion. Mona who usually runs away when she sees me coming with the hair brush, was so compliant and didn't whine or budge one time. To my complete amazement, she was so happy to let me do her hair and even said "mummy brush hair, Mona pretty hair"!!! Then we put on the beautiful dress and matching shoes that her grandma bought from her trip in India. And I told her: "Wow Mona, you look beautiful, just like a Princess!" and Mona with a big smile, when to daddy, holding her dress in her hand as to show it off, said: "Mona Princess daddy, Mona princess"!!! Then i told her, come Mona mummy has something very special for you!! She followed me to the bedroom, where i put on her arm the golden bracelet with her name written on it. I told her this is a very special gift from mamijoon and papijoon in Mauritius. Mona went "ooohhh" and I told her we have to thank mamijoon and papijoon later, and as soon as i said that, Mona said "Thank you Mamijoon papijoon" so happily. Several times during the party, i caught her showing off her bracelet to some people. She was so cute in that dress and her shoes, with the bracelet on her arm and her hair so long and straight!! She really was like a princess, at least to us she was!!!

As soon as the first guests arrived, Mona was so excited and started to run around and play with the kids. She was the leader of the little gang and showed everyone her toys, her room and where to play outside. She was so happy and had a great fun with the kids.

The dinner was a success, everyone seemed to have enjoyed my 'debutant' Persian cooking. The main dish was 'Ghormeh Sabzi', an Iranian stew. It is an important element of Persian cuisine, often said to be the Iranian 'national dish'. The main ingredients are a mixture of sauteed herbs cooked with kidney beans and lamb meet. (Ghormeh refer to diced meat and Sabzi means vegetables/herbs). And i had lots of compliments about my Persian cooking and was said to have the Persian cooking hand. Some even said that it tasted just like their mum's cooking!! (which is highest cooking compliment one can get!!!). I was so happy and pleased to see that not much of the ghormeh sabzi was left. We even bought lots of different types of nuts and seeds and some persian sweets (from the persian grocery store) to make it a real perisan night, but everyone seemed to be more interested in the birthday cake, which was a black forest chocolate cake with cherry and cream inside and on the top of the cake.

After dinner, we went straight to making the tea and cutting the cake. Mona was so happy, it was finally time to blow the candles and sing happy birthday!! She managed to blow all of her candles (and there was a lot, because she had been practising so much, i really wanted it to last a bit longer than just two little candles). She was happy and with a victory smile on her face when she blew out all of the candles. She clapped her hands with joy for her achievements. The she cut the cake with the help of daddy and started to eat the cake right there and then.... lol and when she was eating her slice of cake, she was so generous and started to feed me some of her cake.

And the gifts... oooh la la, she was so excited when we started opening all the gifts, she pull opened the big bags and ripped the wrapping papers and was so happy with each new toy. She got lots of dolls and toys. Then came the gift from grandpa Reza and Cima, the baby doll that talks and moves, oh my goodness, she was so excited, she put her face right in front of the doll (who was still in the box) and said "hi"... it was really funny!! After opening that gift, she wasn't interested in the other gifts at all, she just wanted to get the doll out of the boy to play with it, and that's what we did. The doll is quite cool i must admit, even me and daddy are playing with it... lol
The party was a lot of fun, and everyone left around 11.30pm, and as soon as the last guest left, i changed her into her pjs and put her to bed and she immediately fell sound asleep.

Daddy and mummy were so tired that night, but our hearts were really happy and full of love. We just couldn't believe how much our little baby had grown and is turning into a little girl. We really haven't seen Mona that happy and excited before!!
Those two years were the most wonderful years of our life so far, and we did thank God that night for our blessings!!

So here are the pictures of the party and a little video of Mona blowing her candles....

Thank You for the birthday wishes

So many of you, dearest loved ones, have written to me to wish Mona a very happy second birthday.

I thought I should publicly thank you all for your lovely gestures!!

I was very touched that firstly you remembered the date of her birthday and that you send the birthday cards and funny pictures for her to read and watch.

Mona really enjoyed all of them.
We sat together in front of the computer and I read her each of the cards and emails and showed her the pictures. I told her who send each card and after reading each card/message, she said thank you!!
She was so happy and just didnt want to get off the computer. I had to literally pull her away from it and it didnt go without tears and cries.

Once again, thank you all so much for the lovely birthday wishes.
Hubby and I are really appreciatiative and grateful to all of you!

Much love,

*******************************************

Gros Bisous,

Our new house!!

So yeah, we have moved in and we are now finally settled into our new home!!

We moved to our new house during the 'Ayyam-i-Ha Celebrations and it took us 4 days to move out from the previous house and to clean it up and move into and clean the new house.
Mona and myself got a very back chest flu on the eve of the big moving day and you can imagine that the only thing i desperately wanted to do was to stay in bed, well i couldn't do that, because first of all, our bed was in the rental truck all dismantle along with all our belongings, plus i had to take care of Mona and help out with the packing, the moving and the cleaning!!!
It was a very very long week!!
Even though hubby had some help with the moving of the big furniture to the new house, he did most of the work himself and was very very patient with Mona and me, as we were two very grumpy sick girls!!
Mona was also a great!! Even though she was sick and had almost no toys or room to play in, she was very happy and patient on those 4 days of intense moving and was happy and ready to go help clean the house when we woke her up early in the morning.
For 4 days, we woke up at 6.30am and got back to our new home around 8.30pm!! We had so much scrubbing of the walls to do, Mona had been very creative in the previous house and had scribbled on all the walls and doors in the previous house!! She really was creative, because she use all sorts of pens to write with (pencil, pens, markers, texters, colored pens and pencils, any sort of pen we had, she had used them!!) Hubby did most of the scrubbing and his arms were all sore from it!!
Admist the pain, sickness and tiredness, we made it a must to attend our first Baha'í 19 Day Feast in our new community on the 1st of March, and we love our new community! It's quite small but feels so warm and nice, and there are 3 French speaking people in it!! I am in heavens!! And we are going to be hosting the first 19 Day Feast of the new Baha'i year!! How cool is that??!! :)

After the move, we took the weekend to rest and recover, and Mona and me started to felt better.
We are so much enjoying our new home!! It's really beautiful and nice to live it.
We love the backyard, specially Mona, she enjoys going up to the vine and pick up and eat the grapes right from the tree!! She has so much room to play around with her bikes and other ride on toys. She also loves the big bathtub (spa bath), she splashes the water inside the tub and even pretends to swim... and i am happy, because she splashes away and not a drop falls on the floor!!!
Hubby and I also, enjoy sitting outside in the back yard in the morning, and as soon as it gets a bit cooler, we will enjoy being more often outside.
It's been really hot lately here, Adelaide even broke the record of hottest days in a row!! It's been more than 11 days of non-stop heat (usually it's about 4 to 5 days of really intense heat and then with a cool change, but not this time!!). Everybody here is complaining and praying for cool change of weather!!

Everyday we go out into our new neighbourhood to discover what it has... We have everything close by (like two streets away), shopping center, pharmacy, doctor, post office, entertainment, cafés and restaurants, and the police station is just in front of our house.

On another note, Mona is turning two on the 16th of March!!
So this Saturday, we are going to have a party at our new house, for Mona's 2nd birthday!! And Mona is getting more and more excited about it each day!! She has been singing 'Happy birthday to Mona" the whole week!! NON-STOP!!! And even pretends to blow the candles and claps her hands afterwards!!
This week we have been planning and buying things for the party. We are not going to have a huge big 'wowing' party like we did for her 1st birthday, ( i think her first birthday was more of a celebration for us to have survive the first year of parenting!! lol), but it's still going to be pretty, cute and very girly!!! lol

Anyways, I know lots of you have been waiting to see the pictures of the house, which i finally took last week. So here you are... the pictures of our new home!!
Enjoy!!
