A bus trip, a dinner and a show...

Last week, Mona and me took the bus to go to Mamani's house (grandma). Mona is loving the bus trips now, it's quite an adventure for her!!

So there was this one very very excited little girl sitting next to me on that bus trip last Thursday and she didn't stop talking and singing all the way to her Mamani's house!

When we got to Mamani's house, we all went for dinner at Cafe Primo with the family. And while we were waiting for our dinner to come, we had lots of fun watching the kids, the girls (Mona and Negin) were colouring and Omeed was reading.

After dinner, we all went back to Mamani's house for tea and deserts.
But Mona was more interested in eating the sunflower seeds, and got everyone to crack them open for her, so she could eat the seeds...
See how excited she is to eat those tiny little seeds.... she is proving to be truly a real little Persian girl.... lol...

And while we were enjoying our tea and sweets, the girls, Mona and Negin, organised a little impromptu show for us. They started to sing and dance to the nursery rhymes that were in Mona's book.

Followed by some rolling on the floor! (don't ask me why, cause I have absolutely no idea!!)

Marion Fair and afternoon with friends...

After the 'Tea Party' with cousin Ajay, we all went to the Marion Fair together to meet up with some other friends.
We came a bit late and just as we arrived the Baha'i Band 'Hidden Cords' had just finished performing and were getting off the stage!

But we did spend some time at the Baha'i stand, had some ice-cream, visited the 'petting animal farm' and had fun playing and running around.

After the fair, we all went to our dear friend, Martha's house, where the kids had so much fun playing together.
I'm so glad and happy that Martha and her family moved back to Adelaide, because the kids love to play together and Mona keeps talking about them all the time (ALL THE TIME!!!! lol).

And this is a picture of Mona's coloring page, where she actually colored inside of the lines for the very first time! (the pink eyes and pink strawberry and the green rock)

And not to forget, the yummy Persian dinner that our host, Martha, cooked for us that night!

It was absolutely divine!!

Tea Party with cousin Ajay

On Sunday 29 March (which was papijoon's birthday by the way!), Mona's cousin Ajay and his dad came over at our house to have a little tea party.

Well actually, they came to bring Mona her Naw-Ruz gift...

...which was a 'Dora Tea Party Set'. A tiny tea set in real porcelain!!

M: Hey Ajay, would you like some tea?
A: Ok, but just one cup, I have to go soon, I have some very serious work to do today.
M: Alright... I'll make you one quick cup, here you go!

M: How about some milk, would you like some?

A: Sure I do, I love my tea with milk!

M: Would you like some sugar with that?
A: Oh yes, I would love to... I like sweet tea!

M: Oh wait, let me get that for you!
A: Ah thanks!
M: You're welcome dear cousin!

A: Oh dear, this tea is delighful!
M: Yes, I know... I make quite a delicious tea, if I can say so myself!!

M: Would you like some more dear cousin?
A: Oh yes please, we always have time for a second cuppa tea!

M: Come back soon for another tea party with me!

A: I sure will!!! Bye!

Now, that was fun to write! :) LOL!!!

Indian Mela (festival)

The day after we went to the Zoo, there was an 'Indian Mela' (festival) at Elders Park in Adelaide, next to the beautiful Torrens River.

I was so excited to go to this festival, because firstly I've never been to any type of festival whatsoever since I've been in Adelaide (and Adelaide is known for being the city of festivals) and secondly because it was an Indian festival... which meant lots of awesome colors, scents and tastes!

We have an awesome time there... the weather was just perfect and we met up with some of our friends there...

Lots of people showed up at the festival and quite a few of the performances were done by non-indian dancers...

Mona was just dancing along to all of the performances (it's in her blood after all, her dad is Indian and her mother has some Indian ancestors too)
Mona really truly enjoyed herself at the festival...

And the food.... Oh My Gosh!!! It was just divine!!
I had some chicken Briyani, which was really really spicy, with some cucumber raita, Mona had some butter chicken with rice and some papadums, and my friend had a huge Massala Dosa which he generously shared with Mona and me!!

And for deserts we had some yummy delicious 'goulab jamoun'.
They were so hot and really really juicy and sweet, and as someone said it so well: 'just like me!' ;)

Trip to the Zoo

Two weeks ago we went to the Adelaide Zoo.
It was a glorious beautiful sunny day, and we were accompanied by our friends Amy, Martha and Nushan.
Mona and Amy, had the best of fun running around the zoo and re-discovering the animals. They definitely learned a few new things that day and we all had an awesome time together...
