Well, after celebrating Mona's birthday, Naw-Ruz was here!!
It was time to go out and buy some new outfits.
Everybody got new clothes for Naw-Ruz, mummy, daddy and specially Mona (she got several outfits!!).
We didnt go to the Naw-Ruz celebration in our community, because Mona got sick on the weekend that followed her birthday and mummy was also starting to feel sick.
So the night of Naw-Ruz (20th march) we were home, feeling sick and blue. We did the Naw-Ruz prayer together and eat some ordered dinner (indian) and then we finished up the "spring cleaning" (which was very much needed of course).
The next day, we went to the shops to buy our new clothes and that really cheered us up.
Then we went to the big Naw-Ruz celebration. It was organised by West Torrens Community (the one we were in before we moved to Marion). It was in a very big hall, and the guests were seated around tables and a 3 course dinner was served, while the program was on.
There was a devotional part, where prayers and poems were read, then i presented the power point they had asked me to prepare for them.
After that the festivities really started. People started eating, there was dancing presentations (Indian dancers, Filipino dancers, and belly dancers) And after dinner, the dance floor was open and everyone jumped on there to dance to the very loud and cheerful Persian music.
Mona made friends instantly with a little girl sitting to the table next to ours.
They were all over the place, crawling on the floor, under the tables, sharing and playing with their dolls. They were so cute together.
We left quite early, 10 mins after the dancing party started, because Mona and mummy were sick.
But it was a good celebration and we did enjoy ourselves very much.
Here are some pics:
